Terry Cooke

Owner & Managing Funeral Director

Terry is a licensed funeral director and has been the managing director and co-owner of the funeral home since 2003. Terry has been licensed since graduation from Humber College in 1983 and as been associated with the Kopriva family since that time. In 2019, upon Ilona Kopriva's retirement, Terry assumed full ownership of Kopriva Taylor Funeral Home, and looks forward to continue serve the Oakville community with the same commitment and spirit that Rudy & Ilona established in 1977. Terry has been very community minded during this time and is a past member of the Rotary Club of Oakville West, past Memoriam Chair of the Heart & Stroke Foundation of Ontario, and has been on the Board of Directors with the Oakville & District Humane Society. Terry is married to Sarah they have two teenage sons and live on a rural property west of Oakville, where they enjoy time outdoors and interacting with their small chicken flock and numerous pets. Terry and his family are avid "cottagers", and enjoy every opportunity for family life.

Ilona Kopriva

Retired Past President

Ilona has been a highly valued and respected resident of the Oakville community since 1976, and has been involved with many different Charities and Volunteer organizations. In 1989 Ilona and her Late husband Rudy shared in the Oakville Chamber of Commerce Business Person of the year award and she is a recipient of two Paul Harris Fellow awards and the Queen Elizabeth II Diamond Jubilee Medal.
Her generosity reflects her love and compassion for her community, especially children and families in crisis. In 1999, Ilona founded and currently Chairs the Oakville Children's Magical Christmas Party for disadvantaged children and their caregivers. She is a Patron of Radius Child and Youth Services, Darling Home for Kids and Big Brothers and Big Sisters of Halton.

Her passions include traveling, entertaining family and friends, swimming, playing progressive euchre or just simply indulging in a good mystery book.

Ilona is married to Don Robinson and they live in Oakville.

James Fletcher

Funeral Director

James is a licensed funeral director and long-time resident of Oakville. He has been licensed since 1988 and received his initial training, in part, under the direction of the Kopriva family. He continues to enjoy a rewarding profession in assisting families through very difficult times in their lives. He is a member of the Ontario Funeral Service Association, carries the Certified Funeral Service Practitioner designation and was an elected member to the Board of Funeral Service for the province of Ontario. James has been involved in many aspects of community life in Oakville, having coached soccer with both the Oakville Soccer Club and Hockey with M.O.H.A., as past president of the Oakville Irish Dance Association and as a long-standing member of the Oakville Choral Society. James and his wife Virginia have three children and thoroughly enjoy time spent with their family and friends.

Gordon Hunter

Funeral Director

Gordon has been a licensed funeral director since 1976, and has been with Kopriva Taylor since 1994. Gordon brings many years of experience and expertise in all areas of the profession. Throughout his long standing career, Gordon has demonstrated a strong commitment to helping others and has cared for those most in need. For over 44 years, he has been a funeral director and has provided care to hundreds of families. Colleagues, friends and family would describe Gordon as an active listener; a caring and loving person, someone extremely compassionate; and a very supportive man who is available to others at all times. His interests include hockey, home renovations, gardening and most of all spending time with his wife Linda and their two sons at their home in Oakville.

James Mitchell

Funeral Director

James has been with the Kopriva Taylor Funeral home since 1993, and became a licensed funeral director in 1996. Happily married, two children and proud grandfather. He considers it a privilege to work with a Canadian family owned funeral home and work with professional colleagues who genuinely care for people. James is married to Pamela and is a long-time resident of Oakville.

Craig Hamilton

Funeral Director

Born in Hamilton Craig grew up and raised his own family in Burlington, where he still resides. Craig fell naturally into the funeral services industry as a high school student, following an interview he did for a school project at the age of 16. Craig completed his studies and graduated as a Funeral Director in 1980, and has been helping families since that time. An avid hockey player for many years, he transitioned to coaching and was involved with the Burlington Minor Hockey Association for years. Craig is also a member of Brant Lodge A.F & A.M, number 663 G.R.C & the Moore Sovereign Consistory. The Kopriva Taylor team were very pleased when Craig joined them as a full time director in 2017.

Ellen Sinclair

Funeral Director

After 20 years of caring for others in the medical field, Ellen started down a new career path as a Funeral Director Associate and discovered her life's passion. Ellen came to Kopriva Taylor as an intern in 2017 while completing her schooling at Humber College. After graduating with honours from her class in 2019, she was overjoyed to join the family at Kopriva Taylor as a full-time funeral director.

Terry Campbell

Funeral Director

Terry has been with Kopriva Taylor since October 2004 and worked part-time while attending Humber College's Funeral Service Education Program. Terry then became full-time as an intern and successfully graduated and became a Licenced Funeral Director in July 2007. Terry and his wife Barbara live in Hamilton.

Katherine Downey

Pre-Arrangement Counselor

Katherine was born and raised in Oakville and specializes in Funeral Pre-planning and Estate Organizing.

Prior to joining Kopriva Taylor, Kat taught at High School and College. Since 1998 Kat has continued to educate people about the emotional and financial advantages of end of life planning.

Professionally Kat contributes to the perinatal bereavement program, the Bereaved Families of Ontario, and is a faculty member for Age Friendly Businesses and Certified Professional Consultant on Aging.

Funeral Director Assistant

Dave, a resident of Oakville since 1979, has been with Kopriva Taylor as a part time Funeral Director Assistant since January 2006, following a 43 year career in the Group Insurance industry with Sun Life, Aetna, Maritime Life ending with Manu Life. He is a B.Sc. graduate of St. Francis Xavier University, Antigonish, Nova Scotia. He married his lovely wife Linda in 1966 and has two children and three grandchildren.

Fred Bostock

Funeral Director Assistant

Fred is a Funeral Director's Assistant and was born, raised and educated in Toronto. He retired after 33 years at the Toronto Transit Commission (TTC) where his role involved electrical design, plant operations, human resources, safety and security. He then worked part-time at the Oakville Driver's Licencing office for 5 years and then began part-time with Kopriva Taylor in 1999. He married Alice in 1961, moved to Oakville in 1964, and has two daughters and two grandchildren. Fred is a member of St. Paul's United Church.
