Trillium Organ/Tissue Donations
Trillium Gift of Life Network was created in December 2000 by the Ontario Government and assumed the role of Ontario's central organ and tissue donation agency with the challenge to significantly increase organ and tissue donation across the province and improve related processes and functions. As outlined by theTrillium Gift of Life Network Act, the Network's mandate includes: Plan, promote, coordinate and support activities relating to the donation of organs and tissue for transplant. Coordinate and support the work of designated facilities in connection with organ and tissue donation and transplant. Manage the procurement, distribution and delivery of organs and tissue. Establish and manage waiting lists for organ and tissue transplants and establish and manage a system of fair allocation. Undertake to ensure that patients and their families have appropriate information and opportunities to consider whether to consent to the donation of organs and tissue and facilitate the provision of that information. Provide education to the public and to the health care community about organ and tissue donation and facilitate the provision of such education by others Mission Saving and enhancing more lives through the gift of organ and tissue donation in Ontario. Grief Support
Has a member of your family died? You are not alone. Bereaved Families provides support for people who have lost an immediate family member -- an infant, a child, an adult child, a parent, a brother or a sister, an adult sibling, a grandchild or a spouse. We support parents, guardians or family members helping a child grieve. We support the unique circumstances faced by survivors of violent death, survivors of completed suicide, and families seeking pregnancy after loss. Our support programs serve family members: support groups for preschoolers (3-5), children (6-12), adolescents (13-17), young adults (18-30), parents, parents of infants, and grandparents. Some days may seem like eternity. If you are newly bereaved, we wish you strength as you face the pain. You have already taken the first step by visiting here -- we know how much courage it takes to reach out. We have been there, and we can help the healing begin. Contact us if you want to talk. We can help. We provide a place for you to discuss your experiences and learn about grief with others who have been there. We give you a chance to talk, in a confidential setting, about how your loss affects your life. By sharing with others who have been there, you may learn how to cope by gaining insight into your own thoughts and feelings. Has someone you know experienced loss? If you aren't sure what you can do, we can help. Bereaved Families can assist you to be helpful for a friend, relative or co-worker who has experienced loss. We have information if you are seeking to help a student, employee or congregation member who has experienced loss, or if you are a doctor, nurse, social worker or funeral director to a bereaved family or individual. Dedicated to helping the people of Halton cope with life's challenges. The death of a loved one is a devastating blow that leaves us overwhelmed with intense, uncontrollable feelings. Through sharing our thoughts and feelings with someone who has been there, we become aware that our grief response is normal and learn how to live with our loss. Bereavement counselling offers people support to work through feelings of grief and learn to rebuild their shattered lives. We offer individual counselling, group support and counselling, resource & lending library, and community education awareness. Financial assistance is available to those who qualify. We have offices in Oakville, Burlington, Milton and Georgetown to serve the communities of Halton Region.
