In her 88th year, following declining health with dementia, she passed away, with her daughters by her side on July 9th, at Age Care Glen Oaks in Oakville, Ontario.  Bonnie (Yvonne Annette Mancari) was named after two of the famous quintuplets. She was the middle child of two sisters, Margie 2 years older and Selby, 10 years her junior.

She was born in London, Ontario with a beautiful head of Shirley Temple hair and grew up attending school in London and joining many sports teams. Bonnie was a tomboy and a natural athlete; she won many trophies and awards for Track + Field, Baseball, Basketball, Roller Skating and later, curling at the Oakville Curling Club.

She met her husband Jim in London and they were happily married for over 60 years, spending 7 years in Calgary and most of their married lives in Oakville, on Shanley Terrace where they have great memories of the lively neighbourhood full of wonderful friends and an epic Canada Day Baseball game that ended late in the evening with everyone in a pool (or two).

Mom loved being a wife, mother and grandmother. Mom supported Dad during his career with little fanfare. She was playful and fun. She was crafty and patient. She often made cute handmade outfits for her daughters and their Barbie Dolls. She was fairly low-key and felt that most childhood maladies could be resolved with a tube of Ozonol and a warm washcloth.

Bonnie and Jim loved to travel and went on many beach vacations with her sister Selby and husband Arnie. They enjoyed many all-inclusive holidays in Mexico and she got her money’s worth at the dessert table every night of the trip.

She is survived by her daughter Janis and husband John, their children Oliver (Manon) and Nicholas (Emily), and two great-grandchildren, Charlotte and Julian, alongside her youngest daughter Susan, husband David and their son Griffin.

Bonnie loved a lot of things; ladybugs, gardening, peonies, dark chocolate, The Toronto Blue Jays, travel, sewing, libraries, recycling, Barbados, and most of all, custard tarts.

She spent over 2 years at Age Care Glen Oaks and was given exceptional treatment from staff, nurses and PSWs. A special thank you to Lunie who went above and beyond with her meaningful visits.

Mom never had to be the centre of attention; she had a quiet confidence that let other people shine.

Today we want her to be remembered for her excellent listening skills, thoughtfulness, resourcefulness, and craftiness. She will be greatly missed by family, friends and neighbours - and a special sister on Vancouver Island. Rest well, Mom. We hope we all do you proud.
