William Howe "Howie"
White
Oct 15, 1974 — Aug 5, 2026
With broken hearts, we announce the sudden loss of William Howe White, who passed away on August 4, 2026, at the Etobicoke General Hospital at the age of 51. William, affectionately called Howie by his family and friends, was loved by everyone he met and faced all challenges with wisdom, courage, humour, and an unwavering devotion to the people he loved—especially his son Jesse.
Howie’ s pride and joy was his son. Every decision was made with his son’s well being in mind and his pride and love was evident in his conversations with family and friends. He had a deep faith in God, was an avid reader, loved guitars, music, hunting, chess, cooking and above all laughing while spending time with family and friends.
He devoted his entire career to the marine industry. Trained in Naval Architecture, he began his professional career pursuing his passion for shipbuilding. His career later led him to marine insurance, where he worked as a marine surveyor before moving into claims. In the later years of his career, Howie became widely recognized and respected as an expert in marine insurance claims. He was a Naval Reservist Veteran and loved all things nautical.
Predeceased by his father and mother, Jesse and Doreen White. Leaving to mourn his cherished son, Jesse White; as youngest of a family of fi ve, he is leaving with cherished memories siblings Jill MacDonald (Gary); John White (Sharon); Eveline Wright (Randy); Marilee White (Brian); nieces and nephews for whom he cared deeply; and a wide circle
of many other family, friends, and colleagues who meant so much to him and were blessed to know his unique brand of warmth, generosity, kindness and humour.
The family extends heartfelt thanks to the many who have expressed sympathy to family and friends who are mourning him. Your compassion will never be forgotten.
Cremation has taken place. Visitation & a funeral service celebrating Howie’s life will be held at his hometown at St. Cyprian’s & St. Mary’s Anglican Parish, Bell Island on a date to be announced in the coming week.
Flowers are welcome, or in lieu of fl owers, donations may be made to a charity of one’s choice in Howie’s memory.
Deeply loved, dearly missed, and always remembered
