IN LOVING MEMORY OF
William Clyde
Robertson
November 11, 1932 – April 18, 2021
Passed away peacefully on April 18, 2021, at his home, surrounded by family, in his 89 th year. Clyde was the oldest of 3 sons of William James Robertson and Mary Evva Grout. He was predeceased by his brother Bruce and is survived by his brother Ross. Clyde was the loving husband of Mary Louise Peart for 64 years and the father of 6 children, Timothy (Beth) who passed away in 2016 after a long battle with ALS, Mark (Dawn), Paul, Patrick (Michelle), Joanne (Jim) and Christian (Nyla). He is survived by 18 grandchildren and 2 great-grandchildren. Clyde worked in the insurance industry for the better part of his life, founding W. Clyde Robertson Insurance Ltd. in the 1950's and never really retiring. His son Patrick has now taken over the business that still bears his name. Clyde was very active in minor hockey throughout the Toronto area. As a young man, he played the game he loved for many years. When his playing days were done, he turned to a successful coaching career during which he coached several of his own sons. Clyde also actively enjoyed golfing and continued playing until his mid-eighties. His once-a-week summer outings were a constant and rain was never a deterrent. As youngsters, his sons Paul and Pat would often caddie for him. Clyde had a great passion for travel. He and Mary Lou, sometimes accompanied by friends, travelled extensively throughout Europe and had a fondness for cruising. The yearly family trips to Florida were a highlight for all the Robertson kids. Clyde loved photography and while he took many pictures on his travels, his passion turned professional specializing in wedding photography and eventually he progressed to teaching.
He was a great father, grand-father, father-in-law, son, and brother – he was a great man. We love him and will miss him.
In lieu of flowers, donations to ALS Canada would be greatly appreciated.
