Devoted husband for 60 years to Audrey Lorraine (Richmond). Proud father of Richard (Gayle Fish) and Robert (Erin Reger). Beloved Papa of Samantha, Robin, Scott and Graham. He was one of two children born to the late William and Marjorie Redshaw and was predeceased by his sister Margaret. Allen's second love in life was serving his community as a member of the Oakville Fire Department where he served for 25 years and was fondly referred to as "Big Al". Allen touched the lives of many young people during his coaching years where he actively participated in mentoring young boys in hockey, football, baseball and lacrosse. Allen was an active member of Knox Presbyterian Church until his death. Allen touched the lives of many people with his smile and generosity, and maintained his trademark sense of humour all the way to the end. Friends and family are invited to attend visitation at Kopriva Taylor Funeral Home, 64 Lakeshore Road West, Oakville on Thursday February 3rd from 2 - 4 p.m. and 7 - 9 p.m. A Service of Thanksgiving celebrating Allen's life will be held Friday, February 4, 2011 at 1:30 p.m. at Knox Presbyterian Church, 89 Dunn Street, Oakville. A private family interment service will be held at a later date.
