Obituary

William (Bill) Ellis  June, 25 1944 – August 15, 2025

With love and sadness, the family of William (Bill) Ellis shares his passing at the age of 81.

Bill's life was defined by creativity, compassion, patience and quiet strength. He was a gifted woodworker making beautiful custom pieces to fill the homes of family and friends.  Bill was a jack of all trades, learning how to do everything on his own, always finding a way to repair, restore, or create with his own two hands.

Whatever he loved, Bill embraced completely. He was a man of many interests and passions and excelled at everything from woodworking, to capturing the beauty of birds through photography, to making wine and playing the guitar. Authentic and unguarded, he put others at ease simply by being himself, while wholeheartedly devoting himself to the people and passions he loved most.

Above all, Bill cherished time with those he loved. He was a devoted husband to Sonia for 55 years, a loving father to Laura (Andrew) and Michael (Whitney), and a very proud Poppy to Katie, Claire, Charlie, Finley, and Lucy. He was a gentle soul, who adored children, and his easygoing nature, patience, and steady kindness made him beloved by all who knew him. He never complained, met life's challenges with grace, and his presence brought comfort and warmth to every room he entered.

He will be deeply missed, but his spirit lives on in the love of his family, the beauty of his craftsmanship, and the countless lives he touched.

Bill will always be remembered for his kindness, patience, intelligence, positivity, passion, warmth and love for those around him.
