Obituary

It is with great sadness that the family of William (Bill) DeVries announce his peaceful passing in his 92nd year in Burlington, Ontario.

Bill was born in Apeldoorn, Holland and immigrated to Canada at the age of 18, residing in Oakville, Ontario for the majority of his life. Bill was the beloved husband to Tilly for over 67 years and the proud father of 6 children: John (Laura), Cindy (Al), Joyce (Greg), Sarita (David), Timothy (Valerie) and the late Billy DeVries.

Bill's love for life was matched only by his passion for the open water. He found great joy in his sailboat, spending countless hours navigating the waves and relishing the freedom that came with each journey.  Bill had a long and fulfilling career as a Chartered Accountant working diligently and with great integrity for many years. Above all, Bill was a family man who cherished his loved ones and leaves behind a legacy of love, hard work and a zest for life that will continue to inspire all who knew him.  His infectious laugh and sense of humour will always be remembered as his way of connecting with others through stories and jokes. He is survived by his devoted wife Tilly, his 5 children, 9 grandchildren and 2 great grandchildren.

The family wishes to thank the staff of Billings Court Manor for their exceptional care and kindness.

A memorial service to celebrate Bill's life will be held at Kopriva Taylor Community Funeral Home located at 64 Lakeshore Road West, Oakville, Ontario on Wednesday, November 27, 2024 at 11:00 AM.
