Cunningham, William (Bill) Michael
It is with broken hearts that we announce the passing of Bill Cunningham in his 76th year. Bill passed away peacefully at home on Sunday, August 25, 2024 after having spent the last days with much love and family around him.
Bill is predeceased by his loving wife, Coleen Cunningham (nee Kilburn) (2019), his former spouse Diane Cunningham (nee Hoey) (2008), and his parents Mary (nee McCousky) and Joseph Cunningham.
Bill is survived by his children and stepchildren Jeffery Cunningham (Kelley), Stephanie Miesch (Michael), Amanda Cunningham, Cheryl Wing (Graham), Laura Louizos (Terry), Luke Cunningham (Courtney), Christopher Hoey (Nyree).
Bill will be missed by his twin brother Johnny (Nancy), brothers Marty (Kim) and Chris, sisters Theresa (Karl), Sharon, Kathy (Robert), Carol (Ivan) and many nieces and nephews across Canada.
He will be fondly remembered as a fun and loving grandpa to Kyla, Ethan, Savannah, Alexandra, Braelynn, Sienna, Keira, Liam, Ian, Fiona, Quinton, Stella and Sloan and will be missed by many friends, neighbours, colleagues and extended family.
Bill was born in Oakville, Ontario on July 31, 1949. He was lovingly known to his family as "Billy Bee" and to the communities of Burlington and Oakville as "Pipe-man". Bill enjoyed many long walks each day, with his long white socks (before it became "fashionable"), shorts (even in the cold months), and vanilla smelling pipe. Everyone knew him including the local high school students who created a social media page for "Pipe-man" sightings.
Bill will be remembered by all for his humour and wit (particularly his "JC" remarks) and for being a diehard Toronto Maple Leaf fan.
Friends and family will be received at Kopriva Taylor Community Funeral Home, 64 Lakeshore Rd. West, Oakville (one block east of Kerr St.) Visitation will take place Wednesday August 28 2-4pm and 7-9pm. Funeral service, immediately followed by reception, on Thursday, August 29th 1pm at Kopriva Taylor. Family are invited to Port Dover Cemetery, 309 Blueline Rd. Port Dover, Norfolk County ON. on Saturday August 31 at 1pm for interment.
In lieu of flowers, Bill would appreciate donations made in his memory to the Coleen Cunningham Foundation (CCF) pspawareness.com
