Obituary

William (Bill) Arthur Perkins passed away quietly on December 22, 2023. He will be together again with Jeannette, his recently deceased wife of 69 years.

Bill will be sadly missed by his children Leslie Prevost (Randy), Sharon Perkins and Gary Perkins (Tracy), grandchildren Glen, Scott, Brooke and Sara and his beloved great grandchildren Hannah, Lillian, Damon, Malcolm and Jude.

Bill was born March 3, 1932 in Toronto. Bill, Jeannette and their children made their home in Toronto, Montreal, London and Oakville as Bill took on new positions with Bell Canada, his employer for over 30 years. He retired while in Oakville and then planned their retirement home which was built in Burlington. While at Bell he formed lifelong friendships with his colleagues, coming together as the EDMOB "old boys".

In his youth Bill enjoyed spending summers working at a fishing camp on the French River. He continued enjoying the outdoors with his family, taking camping and fishing trips, and playing golf at Wyldewood. He kept up his golf game into his 80s and was able to challenge his grandchildren to a round or two each summer.

Bill was multi-talented and a true do-it-yourselfer. He skillfully took on all types of jobs at home from appliance repair to designing a kitchen. In retirement he started a small business taking on projects that used these skills along with his woodworking expertise.

Bill's quick wit and sense of humour always lightened up the room. Friends and family were graciously welcomed and Bill was happiest when they surrounded his dining room table for a home cooked meal. Grandchildren and great grandchildren brought out Bill's sense of fun and were drawn to him and his silly antics. He was a "down on the floor GG '' and there was nothing he wouldn't do for them or with them.

The family would like to give a special thank you to our wonderful Trish and Dianna and the Nurse Next Door team. We will forever remember and appreciate the things you did to help enrich life for Bill and Jeannette and our entire family over the last 4 years.

As well, thanks to the PSWs and healthcare team at Sunrise of Oakville for providing such compassionate care for both our parents at a most difficult time.

A private celebration of life for Bill will be planned for the immediate family.
