Abt, Werner
At age 85, after a courageous battle with illness, Werner Abt set out on his final sail Thursday night (June 30, 2016) with clear blue skies and a perfect wind. He is survived by his loving and caring wife, Marilyn, twin daughters Barbara (Chuck) and Sabine (Tim), and grandchildren Stefanie (Christopher), Christopher, Nicole, Amanda and Alexander. Predeceased by his parents, Max and Ghislaine, sister, Marguerite and wife, Alice with whom he immigrated to Canada in 1959. He will be missed by his relatives in Switzerland. Werner was a man of many interests with a joie de vivre that included sailing, art, photography, travel and jazz music. He was an accomplished painter and captured the beauty and his love of the Canadian landscape in his work. The family wishes to sincerely thank the staff at Allendale Nursing Home who provided exemplary care and compassion. There will be no service as a private family gathering is planned.
