Peacefully on Saturday April 30, 2011 at Northridge Long Term Care, Oakville in his 99th year. Beloved husband of Kateryna (Leszscyszak). Loved father of Fr. Wolodymyr (Walter) and his wife Maria, Fr. Iwan, Stephen and his wife Marie, Maria and her husband Stefan Chornopysky. Dear grandfather of Andrei (Brandi), Michael, Lesya (Brad), Adrian (Cecilia), Larissa (Conor), Ivanka, Natalia and Matthew. Dear great-grandfather of Francie, Kiara, Noah and Catherine. Dear brother of Kateryna (+1999, Ukraine), Rozalia – Sault Ste. Marie, ON, and Maria (+2009, Ukraine), + Mykhailo (Ukraine) and +Iwan (Ukraine). Immigrated to England in 1947 and to Canada in 1975 where he lived in St. Catharines, ON. Wasyl was one of many active founding parishioners of the newly built St. John Ukrainian Catholic Church. A fall and broken hip in Aug of 2005 and an unsuccessful operation brought about deterioration of his health and necessitated a move to Northridge Long Term Care Home in Oakville. Our gratitude to the staff at Northridge; especially the staff of Mill House and Dr. Goodman for their personal commitment and professional care. Their dedication made Wasyl's past 5 years comfortable and meaningful beyond our expectations. Visitation will be held on Tuesday May 3, 2011 at the Kopriva Taylor Community Funeral Home, 64 Lakeshore Road West, Oakville from 7- 9pm. Parastas service will be at 8pm on Tuesday. Funeral service will be held on Wednesday May 4, 2011 at St. Joseph Ukrainian Catholic Church, 262 Maplegrove Drive, Oakville at 10am. Internment to follow at St. Volodymyr Cemetery in Oakville. In lieu of flowers, the family would appreciate donations for:
