Vola passed away peacefully at the Queen's Garden Long Term Care Residence in Hamilton, Ontario, on Thursday November 14, 2019 in her 99 ^th year.

Beloved wife of Christopher William Dalton (predeceased 2003).

Loving Mother of Christine Dalton (James King) and their daughter Vanessa King (Justin Etherington) and their son Alex King ; Sheila Dalton (the late Gordon Wyatt) and their son Adam Dalton-Wyatt (Afroza); and Steve Dalton (Lynn Leith) and their daughter Daria Pool (Chris Pool), their son Erik Simins (Heather Simins) and their son Alex Simins.

Vola is also survived by her loving great grandchildren Justin Pool, Kiera Pool, Jenna Pool, Patrick Etherington, Jackson Etherington, Baeya Simins, and Clark Simins.

Vola was born in Surrey, England and moved to Canada with her family in 1956. She spent many years working for the Federal Government as an adjudicator for the Employment Insurance program; she was a gentle person, but a stickler for the rules. We were proud of the combination of kindness and toughness that made her ideal for this role.

Vola was an avid gardener long before it became popular; she and Chris spent many hours cultivating the most gorgeous garden in the neighbourhood.

Vola had an artistic side with a talent for drawing, sewing, and knitting. She also loved words, and enjoyed both reading and doing crossword puzzles.

In her earlier years, she rode and jumped horses, and played the piano.

Vola was the ultimate animal lover. The family requests that, in lieu of flowers, donations be made to PrimRose Donkey Sanctuary .

The family would like to thank the Personal Support Workers, nurses, and administration staff at Queen's Garden for the care, consideration, and love that they gave Vola during her time there.

A Celebration of Life Reception will be held at Kopriva Taylor Funeral Home, 64 Lakeshore Road West, Oakville, Ontario on Sunday, November 24, 2019 from 2:00 p.m. until 4:00 p.m., Refreshments and sandwiches will be served.
