October 11, 2023
Virginia "Sally" Lee Gooderham (Pride), a beloved mother and grandmother, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, October 11,
2023, at the age of 94 surrounded by her family. Sally was a woman of many talents, whose life was coloured with creativity, love, and an
unwavering commitment to her family.
Born in Toronto as Virginia Lee Gooderham, she grew into the role of a nurturing mother and a pillar of strength for her four children, Janet, Michael, Mary, and Tuz. Her legacy extends to her grandchildren, Jennifer, Sarah, Jessie, Alexandra, and Alex, who will always cherish her memory and the times spent with her in Temagami.
Virginia was a natural artist, infusing her creative touch into every aspect of her life. From crafting imaginative class projects, vibrant Halloween costumes, skillful sewing, to the artistry she displayed in her own flower store, her passion for art was made known. Her practical nature and loyalty defined her character, making her an anchor for her family and friends. Not only was Virginia adept at nurturing relationships, but she also nurtured her loved ones through her culinary expertise. Her children fondly remember the aroma of her homemade baking, the comfort of a hot lunch on school days and thoughtfully prepared dinners. Virginia's green thumb was evident in her flower and vegetable gardens. Temagami held a special place in Virginia's heart, serving as a sanctuary where she found solace and joy. Paddling her canoe amidst the serene waters and sharing playful moments with her beloved black Labrador Retrievers, she found tranquility in the beauty of nature.
Virginia's legacy lives on through the memories she created and the love she bestowed upon her family and friends. Her spirit will forever be cherished and remembered as a beacon of love, strength, independence, and creativity. She will be deeply missed by all those whose lives she touched.
The family will be holding a private ceremony to celebrate her life and honor her memory. In lieu of flowers, they kindly request that donations be made to the CNIB Foundation in support of their Guide Dog Program in Virginia's honor, a cause that was close to her heart.
