On Wednesday, May 7, 2008 at 76 years of age after a long and courageous battle with ALS. Dear husband for 43 years to Valda, loving father of Andra (Andris) Leja, Laura and Robert (Diane). Devoted Opa to Amanda and uncle to Edward. Predeceased by his father Georgs, mother Solomeja, and brother Juris (George). Retired employee of Ford Motor Company of Canada, where he worked for 39 years. Dearly loved and missed by friends and relatives in Canada, the United States, Australia and Latvia. His kind, loving nature and indelible sense of humour will be missed by all whose lives he touched. The Adlers family extends its heartfelt gratitude to Dr. Turnbull and all of his staff at the ALS Clinic at McMaster University Medical Centre, Dr. Gabriel and the nursing staff at Oakville-Trafalgar Memorial Hospital, the CCAC, Acclaim Health and the March of Dimes. Visitation will be held at the Kopriva Taylor Community Funeral Home, 64 Lakeshore Road West, Oakville (one block east of Kerr, 905-844-2600) on Sunday from 6-9 p.m. and from 12:00 p.m. on Monday, May 12, 2008 with a funeral service to follow at 1:00 p.m. in the Kopriva Chapel. In lieu of flowers, donations gratefully received for Dr. Turnbull's ALS Research Clinic.
