With heavy hearts we announce the passing of Vera Belyea on Tuesday February 24, 2015 at the age of 92. Reunited with her brother Donald and wife Margaret, and dear sisters Jean Duncan and Dorothy Slade. Cherished sister-in-law of Donald Duncan. Beloved aunt of Sharon Duncan and Art Drimmie, Brian and Susan Duncan, Bruce and Mary Anne Duncan, Carol and Larry Pavlic, Douglas and Jana Slade and Helen Belyea and their families. Vera was raised on Simcoe Island and received her nursing training in Kingston and Toronto. As a Flight Lieutenant, she served in the RCAF from 1949-1965. Vera then worked at the Halton Lung Association until retiring in 1985. Vera has been a long-time resident of Bronte and an active member of Walton Memorial United Church UCW. She was passionate about reading, cooking and dark chocolate. She loved her cats. Everyone's Aunt Vera, she met life's challenges head-on with charm, grace and dignity. Vera was a remarkable lady, loving, kind and generous. Always taking an interest in the people and events around her, she was happiest when spending time with family and friends. "Remember each day is a gift". Special thanks to the doctors and staff on 6W at Hamilton General Hospital for their care and compassion. Thanks also to the staff and dear friends at Baywoods Place. Visitation will be held at the Kopriva Taylor Community Funeral Home, 64 Lakeshore Road West, Oakville (one block east of Kerr, 905-844-2600) from 7-9pm Thursday, February 26, 2015. Funeral Service 3pm Friday, February 27, 2015 at Walton Memorial United Church, 2489 Lakeshore Road West, Oakville.
