Velma Madeline Glesta, 95, passed away peacefully on March 30, 2025, at the Village of Tansley Woods in Burlington, Ontario.

Velma was born on August 13, 1929, in Lakeview, Port Credit, the daughter of Lilly Agnes (nee Wilson) and Joseph Robert Mercer. Losing her father at an early age, Velma and her sister Nancy were raised by her mother along with the loving support of a large family of aunts and uncles.

The first years of her life were spent growing up in Lakeview where she eventually met her future husband, Joseph Glesta. They happily spent 65 years together. They raised their children, their son Paul and daughter Kimberly in Oakville.

Velma was blessed with 4 loving grandchildren, Erica, Joe, Zev, and Connor along with 4 great grandchildren, Charlie, Boston Dalton and Jensen.

Her willingness to share, understand others, generosity of spirit, warmth of caring, and smiling humor stood her well through all the days of her life.

Velma supported with pride the dreams of her husband, children and their loving families.

Family was important whether close or far away across the world.  Velma had a lifelong enjoyment of music, dance, hosting wonderful get-togethers and traveling around the world with her husband Joe, sharing many good times together visiting Paul, Kim and their families.

Velma loved life and will be missed by many.  May her joy and smile be carried forward by us.

Velma is survived by her son, 4 grandchildren and 4 great grandchildren.

We would like to thank the staff at the Village of Tansley Woods in Burlington for all their guidance, support, patience and loving care throughout the years Velma lived there with her husband Joe and her remaining years.

In lieu of flowers our family has asked that donations be made to the Alzheimer Society of Canada .

Visitation will take place at Kopriva Taylor Community Funeral Home Thursday April 3, 2025 2:00 - 4:00 pm. Funeral service at St. Jude's Anglican Church Friday April 4, 2025 at 11:00 am.
