IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Valija
Udris
May 11, 1923 – December 28, 2025
My mother, Valija Udris, also known as Omma, passed away peacefully on Sunday December 28th, 2025 while in the care of West Oak Village Long Term Care facility in Oakville.
She was seven (7) months into her one hundred and second (102) birthday.
Survived by her son Imants and his wife Virginia and grandson Bryan and his wife Amanda.
Valija was always very active weaving on one of her multiple looms, crocheting baby hats, scarfs and blankets for new arrivals within our family as well as friends of the family.
She also crocheted hundreds of baby cloths and toques which she donated to the Latvian charity to be added to their shipments to Latvia.
Her toques will be missed by all Christmas time. Each year we were blessed with new toques.
Family get-togethers would not be complete until my mother showed up with her basket of traditional Latvian piragi, also referred to as bacon buns.
As families increased in size, so did the order for piragis. One hundred plus is now the required minimum.
Virginia has taken up the mantel.
In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation to the charity of your choice in my mother's name.
