We are saddened to announce the passing of Thomas Robert (Roy) Walsh on December 26, 2022, peacefully, at his daughter's home in Guelph with his wife, daughter, and son-in law by his side.

Tom is survived by his wife Marilyn of 62 yrs. and daughter Barbara-Anne (Robert).  Tom will be dearly missed by his family in the United Kingdom including his brothers; John (Phyllis, deceased), Joe (Jean), and Michael (Dorothy) and sisters; Marie (Denis, deceased) and Patricia (Bill-deceased). As well as his   cousins, nieces and nephews in the UK and Canada.   An amazing grandpa to Natalie Crawford (Scott), Erik Maier (Laura) and Benjamin Maier (Amber Schultz) and great grandpa to Nixon, Logan, and Coleman Crawford.

Tom emigrated to Canada in 1956 from Southport, Lancashire to Oakville and started a career in telecommunications at Ford Motor Company later joining and retiring from IBM in 1992.  After retiring, Tom had competing interests in golf, gardening, and lamp repair but his love of family did not compete with anything.  Whether it was the numerous family vacations that he took with Marilyn and Barbara-Anne or being present for every event.  He was always there.  He would make the drives around Toronto,  to Guelph (or Pittsburgh) attending school and after school activities of his daughter, grandchildren, and great grandchildren or to mark special holidays or occasions.  His kindness was subtle, quiet, and humble and made an impact on everyone he met.  His fondness for poem writing was ever present to acknowledge special times or to make ordinary times special just by punctuating them with a verse. Tom could be counted on to share jokes (good and bad) to lighten a mood or add humor to a moment.

A resident of Oakville, Tom will be dearly missed by family, long-time and new friends alike.

Thank you to the community palliative care team in Guelph led by Dr. Peter Spadafora that supported the family in caring for Tom.

Visitation will be held on Monday, January 2, 2023 at the Kopriva Taylor Community Funeral Home, 64 Lakeshore Road West, Oakville (one block East of Kerr Street) from 3-6 pm.  Funeral Mass will be held on Tuesday, January 3, 2023 at St Andrew Catholic Church, 47 Reynolds St. Oakville at 10:30 am. Reception to follow at the Church Hall.
