In the presence of his loving family, Tom passed away peacefully on Thursday, August 23rd at the Oakville Trafalgar Memorial Hospital. He fought a courageous battle with heart problems which resulted in other complications.
He was a loving husband and best friend for over 51 years to his wife, Carilyn (nee Gaul). A devoted father to Rob (Tammie), Brian (Tracy) and Todd (Vanessa). Loving, cherished Poppa to Kendra, Aislynn, Benjamin, Kaiden, Lucy, Nolan and Toby. Brother to Donna, Bill (Bette), sister-in-law Mary Ellen and brother-in- law Barry Paton. He is predeceased by his parents Melville and Irene McNaught, brother David, sisters Janet (Paton) and Lorna. Fondly remembered by his nieces, nephews and friends.
Tom was born on October 23, 1944 in Stratford, ON. He graduated from Ryerson Polytech in 1966 and was a manager for Ford Motor Truck Company for over 39 years with perfect attendance. Tom was an avid gardener and hockey was his "life". Up until last November he played hockey as a goalie three times a week and coached the Eagles Peewee hockey team. He was a member of the Oakville Optimist Club for 27 years and held positions within Central Ontario and Optimist International. He was the President of the Oakville Ford Salaried Retirees Association and was a member of St. Paul's United Church for 50 years.
A special thanks to the Oakville Trafalgar Memorial staff who were so loving and caring. Thanks for the visits, phone calls and cards from friends and family. He has made a difference in so many lives.
Visitation will be held at the Kopriva Taylor Funeral Home, 64 Lakeshore Road West (one block east of Kerr 905-844-2600) Oakville, on Tuesday, August 28th from 2- 4 p.m. and 7-9 p.m. A celebration of Tom's life will be held at St. Paul's United Church, 454 Rebecca St., Oakville on Wednesday, August 29th at 11 a.m. In memory of Tom, donations may be made to St. Paul's United Church http://www.stpaulsoakville.com/ , Canadian Children's Optimist Foundation https://ccof-foec.org/ , JDRF (Juvenile Diabetes) https://www.jdrf.ca/ or a charity of your choice.
