Obituary

Husband of Beatrice Jean Seigner (now deceased), dearly loved father of Susan Aitken (Jim), Jill Gamble (Kevin) Arnott, Jeff Gamble (Margot) and Laurie Tribble (Chris) and; cherished grandfather of Dan (Danielle), Sara (Dan), Erin (Tony), Taylor, Brennan, Nathan (Samantha) and Holly; as well Terry was a proud great grandfather of Benjamin, Adam & Alexander.
Terry Gamble was born in 1921 in Montreal. Terry went to Victoria College at the University of Toronto studying mining geology and metallurgy. At age 25, Terry had become a metallurgical research engineer at Shawinigan Chemicals (steels and alloys) in Shawinigan, Quebec.
While with Shawinigan, Terry modified an existing alloy for Avro (Arrow) and received a patent for electrostatic steel. Among his duties Terry certified all castings supplied to Avro, and did radiographic and physical testing for the Royal Canadian Air Force.

Next, Terry was offered and accepted a job with National Carbon from 1952 to 1963. During Terry's tenure, National Carbon became Union Carbide. In 1963, Union Carbide invited Terry to a sales management position in New York City, and for the next six years the family lived in Rowayton, Connecticut (on Long Island Sound). Son Jeff was approaching draft age, and as a Canadian that prospect caused a conundrum. Union Carbide then offered Terry a position in Toronto. The family decided that all things considered it was the best option, although "leaving Connecticut broke our hearts," Terry remembers.
Back in Toronto, Terry Gamble became Hatch & Associates' first full-time director of marketing and business development where he remained until his retirement in 1986.
After retirement, Terry stayed active with Hatch during social events and continued playing tennis regularly. He then developed a "new" social group of friends (all highly intelligent, fun loving professionals) who ranged in age, but were all similar sport and consciously minded – the "whoop-de-do group". This group of friends would engage in sport (tennis, skiing and golf) as well as challenge each other in the mind with debating current events. They would meet at Terry's weekly for a drink, the daily news then dinner & debate. Each "guy" had their regular duty to perform. This continued on for many years and was a great source of pride and enjoyment for our father. Thanks Boys!!!!

Terry passed on early Thursday morning at Ian Anderson House with a compassionate nurse holding his hand. This unique hospice (on the border of Mississauga & Oakville) is a very small operation that gives extraordinary care for the few patients they have finishing their lives there. Our family was so fortunate to have Dad spend his last days there and encourage anyone who would kindly like to make any kind of donations in our father's memory, Donations may be made by mail, phone, internet https://www.canadahelps.org/dn/8416 or in person.
