It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Ted (Edward) Smith, who peacefully left us on Tuesday, February 6th, in the early hours of the morning. Ted fought a courageous battle against Lymphoma Cancer for five months, demonstrating unwavering strength and resilience until the end. He spent his final days with his family surrounded by love and care at The Carpenter Hospice in Burlington.
Ted leaves behind a legacy of love and devotion to his cherished family. He is survived by his beloved wife Annie of 43 years and his children Lindsay (Alan) and Colin (Jillian) who meant the world to him. Ted was not just a custodian for the Halton District School Board; he was a pillar of dedication and hard work, leaving a mark of integrity and commitment in all he did.
Beyond his professional endeavors, Ted lived a life filled with passion and zest. He was a seasoned stock car racer who had a need for speed. Ted's love for music, particularly rock and roll, was a passion of his. As an accomplished guitar player, Ted breathed life into the strings, effortlessly weaving his love for music into every chord and riff. Whether strumming his guitar solo or jamming with friends, Ted's musical talent captivated all who had the privilege of listening. In his retirement years, Ted embraced the tranquility of the golf course, becoming an avid golfer who loved the camaraderie of the sport.
In addition to his many passions and virtues, Ted was renowned for his infectious laughter and quick wit. He had a knack for storytelling and was celebrated as the best joke teller among his friends and family. Ted's humor brought joy and happiness to every gathering, leaving a lasting impression on all who had the pleasure of sharing a laugh with him.
A die-hard sports enthusiast, Ted's allegiance to the Toronto Maple Leafs and the Green Bay Packers knew no bounds. Ted's love for his teams ran deep, fueling his spirited support through the exhilarating victories and the heartbreaking defeats.
In the wake of Ted's passing, we mourn the loss of a beloved husband, father, and friend. His memory will live on in the hearts of all who knew him, a testament to the enduring impact of his love and kindness. As we bid farewell to Ted, we honor the depth of his character and the richness of his life, knowing that his laughter, love, and legacy will continue to resonate in the hearts of all who were touched by his presence. May he rest in peace, and his spirit live on, as a beacon of light and inspiration for generations to come.
Teds family would like to thank the exceptional staff and volunteers at The Carpenter Hospice. A visitation will be held at Kopriva Taylor Funereal home on Thursday, February 15th from 5-9 pm. A Celebration of Life will be held Sunday, February 25th at the Columbus Hall of Hamilton, 222 Queenston Road, Hamilton ON at 1pm. Food and soft drinks will be provided, bar drinks available for charge. All are welcome to attend.
