Obituary

It is with such heartache and sadness that we announce the death of Tanya Lynn Tucker (nee MacDonald). Tanya passed away on Tuesday May 1 st 2018 after a courageous battle with breast cancer at the young age of 44 years. She was a fierce fighter and battled this vicious disease until the end. Her positive spirit and energy never wavered throughout all that she endured. Tanya will be forever missed and cherished by her loving husband Anthony and their four beautiful children, Sienna (9), Mackenzie (6), and twins Jensen (3) and Evangeline (3). Tanya is survived by her devoted parents Allan and Eileen MacDonald, brothers Ryan (Justine), Jonathon and sister Ashley (Dan, children: Liam and Luke). Tanya will be sadly missed by her aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins and many friends.

In 1996, Tanya was selected to be part of a student exchange program through the University of Western Ontario and the University of Victoria in Australia. She completed her degree in Kinesiology at the University of Western Ontario in 1997. Shortly after this, Australia became a second home to Tanya throughout her later years in life. She attended the Royal Melbourne Institute of Technology where she studied to practice Chiropractic. Upon completion of her degree in 2003, Tanya was honoured with the Graduate of the Year Award and the award for Academic Excellence.

Tanya worked as a dedicated Chiropractor for many years and spent so much of her life helping others. Being a chiropractor is what led Tanya to meet the love her life, Anthony. Together, they shared many things in common. Health and fitness were priorities in their life together and they were often seen training for marathons, triathlons or working out at the gym, as Tanya was also a fitness instructor. Tanya was a member of the Western Varsity figure skating team as figure skating was a favourite pastime for Tanya. Prior to university, she spent many years figure skating as a member of the Oakville Skating Club, participating in both precision and individual skating. Although Tanya was physically a strong woman, it was undoubtedly her mental and emotional strength that carried her through the more difficult times in her life while battling this illness.

Family was of utmost importance to Tanya. Although she spent part of her life living overseas she always made sure she was home for special occasions and holidays to spend time with her family. Tanya and her three siblings shared an incredibly strong bond and their time spent together was always filled with love and laughter. Tanya and her parents held a special relationship together. They spent a lot of time together while visiting Tanya and her family overseas and when they moved home to Canada in 2014.

Being a mother was the greatest gift Tanya could ever receive. She was so dedicated to raising her children as they were the light of her life. Being a mother was part of Tanya's innate nature. Her children brought her such joy and happiness, and it is our wish that her bright light continues to shine through her four beautiful children each and every day.

Tanya lived life with an adventurous and exciting spirit and through the years she touched the lives of many people. Anyone who had the pleasure of knowing Tanya and spending time with her would often comment on her warm, caring and kind nature. She radiated beauty not only on the outside but the inside too.
