In Loving Memory of Susie Handapangoda
(Unionville)
February 14, 1938– September 30, 2026
It is with heavy hearts and loving memories that we celebrate the life of Susie Handapangoda who passed on September 30, 2026 at the age of 88.
Susie is survived by her Husband Roy, Daughter Kapi Bulleid and Son Harry.
Susie lived a long and meaningful life, touching the hearts of many through her kindness, generosity, and warm spirit. She was a woman who found joy in the simple yet beautiful things in life, and she had a special gift for making people feel welcome and cared for.
One of Susie’s greatest joys was cooking for others. Her kitchen was a place of warmth, love, and togetherness, where meals were prepared not simply to feed others, but to show how much she cared. She loved meeting people, welcoming them into her life, and building connections wherever she went. Her generous heart was always ready to give, whether through a home-cooked meal, a thoughtful gesture, or a helping hand. She gave freely and sincerely, never expecting anything in return.
Susie also had a deep love for gardening and flowers. She found happiness in tending to her garden, nurturing flowers, and watching them bloom. Her favourite outing would be to explore local garden centers and find her next plant to nurture. Susie would happily share her cut flowers when visiting friends and family.
Up until her heart attack, Susie faithfully cared for her husband who was diagnosed with dementia. Despite the challenges, Susie endured and was committed to ensuring all of her family were cared for and loved.
Her passing leaves a deep void in the lives of those who loved her, but the legacy she leaves behind is one of love, compassion, and generosity. The seeds of kindness she planted throughout her life will continue to grow in the hearts of family and friends for years to come.
A celebration of Susie’s life will be held at later date. If desired, memorial contributions to The Canadian Heart & Stroke Foundation would be sincerely appreciated.
