It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of Susan May Choly-Loan on Wednesday, February 3rd, 2021 in her 67th year at Niagara Health Centre in St. Catharines after a fierce battle with cancer, with her sister Leila by her side.
Susan was predeceased by her devoted husband Doug, her loving daughter Stephanie and parents Anna and Paul. She will be sadly missed by her siblings Paul (Penny), Emely, Leila (late Alex), Angie, Andrew (Lorna), and Victor (Mary). She will be fondly and lovingly remembered by her many nieces and nephews, as well as her friends, especially Irene Driscoll, and her colleagues, especially Tomy Bewick.
Susan was born on Wednesday, May 13th, 1953 at Mount Sinai Hospital in Toronto, Ontario. She was an amazing, intelligent, kind, witty, generous and hardworking person who loved to host gatherings and cook for her whole family. She tried to make sure that everyone was taken care of and was always incredibly proud of everyone's accomplishments. Susan was always the "big sister" helping to look after her younger siblings. Susan always enjoyed spending time outside, especially on their island in Temagami, and she always loved sitting down to read a good book. Above all, Susan was an amazing mother who was totally devoted to her daughter Stephanie and loved her so much. We are comforted to know that she will be happily reunited with Doug, Stephanie, and their dogs Jazzy and Jack.
During her lifetime, Susan had a variety of jobs. In her youth, she started her working life at a fast food restaurant (Burger King), then she became a nanny before working at Cambridge Shoe Company, The Hershey Company, and several construction companies (Slough Estates, Metron Construction, and Gay Co. Ltd.) where she worked in many jobs from Construction Estimator to Project Manager.
We would like to thank all of the people who helped Susan during the past few months, especially Dr. Brown, Valentina and Candy. We would also like to thank the devoted staff at Niagara Health Centre in St. Catherines, especially Dr. McCloy, Dr. Ishkanian, Lenora, Anna, Eryn, Alyssa, Chyrstal, Hanna, Wendy, the fantastic Radiation Therapy Technicians, and many many more people who helped her face the biggest battle of her life.
Visitation will be held at Kopriva Taylor Community Funeral Oakville 64 Lakeshore Rd W (one block east of Kerr St) Tuesday February 9, 2021 from 5:00 pm - 8:00 pm. Due to covid-19 restrictions an apportionment must be made. To book an appointment for visiting for Susan click here.
