Deep regret among his family and friends follows the passing of Steven John Hornibrook at the age of 48 on Monday, June 17, 2013. He had been a resident of Ian Anderson House for seven weeks at the end of his long battle with Brain Cancer. Steven was born in Saint John, N.B. and moved with his family to Oakville in 1969. He was the second son born to Chesley and Margaret Rose (Davidson) Hornibrook, who survive him along with his older brother, Kevin. His first love was art, which led to courses in the field of Animation. His interests then turned to computer technology, and he received high marks, special awards and recognition after completing a 3-year course in two years at Sheridan College. As a programmer, Steven took his career to a higher level and made big strides as a valued member of the IT division of Intact Insurance Canada. Per his wishes, cremation has already taken place, and interment will be at Trafalgar Lawn Cemetery at a later date. A Memorial Service and reception will be held at St. Paul's United Church, 454 Rebecca Street, Oakville on Saturday, June 29, 2013 at 11 am. The family suggests, in lieu of floral tributes, that memorial donations be directed to Ian Anderson House or any charity of your choice.
