Steven was taken far too soon on Saturday June 21, 2008 at the age of 24. Steven was the cherished son of Jayne (nee Smuck) and Michel Hamel of Oakville and the loving brother and best friend of Michael and Scott. He is survived by his grandfather Georges Hamel and predeceased by grandparents Jaqueline Hamel and George and Margaret Smuck. He was the adored nephew of Gilles, Lilliane, Louise, Andres, Guy, Lynne, Barbara, Peter, Rejane, Nancy, John, Sue and Bob. Steven was the sensational cousin of Eric, Yves, Steve, Josee, Karrine, Jeremy, Patrick, Mario, Sarah, Peter, Christopher, Ryan, Bradley, Laura, Robert, Ayden and Anthony. Steven was blessed with a wonderful zest for life and a gift for being loved by all who knew him. His smile would light up any room and his glass was always half full. Visitation will be held at the Kopriva Taylor Community Funeral Home, 64 Lakeshore Rd. West, Oakville, (one block east of Kerr, 905-844-2600) from 7-9 pm Wednesday and 3-5 & 7-9 pm Thursday. A funeral service will be held at 11:00 am on Friday June 27, 2008 at Glen Abbey United Church, 1469 Nottinghill Gate, Oakville. Private family interment. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions to INTEGRA 25 Imperial Street, Toronto, Ontario, M5P 1B9 would be appreciated.
