Our deeply beloved and most cherished Steven left us suddenly on Saturday, June 11, 2016 as a result of a heart attack at home. Precious husband, best friend and soulmate of Jill. Lovingly missed by his parents Karl and Eileen Fortney. Predeceased by his mother June (nee Morrison). Brother of John Fortney (Garren), son-in-law of Ralph and Dorothy Burgess, brother-in-law of Joel Burgess and of Jane and Tom Johnson, uncle to Lauren and Ryan and dearest "papa" to his dog Toby. Gifted with a keen mind and intellect, he was a friend, coach and mentor to many thoughout his career in banking, most recently at TD Bank. Wherever he was in his career, he served his colleagues and clients with care and excellence. Generous, kind and quick witted, he felt deep concern for the wellbeing of others. He spent large amounts of time in the outdoors and found peace in a life simply led authentically and courageously. He leaves behind a community of people devastated by his passing – he was greatly loved. Visitation will be held at the Kopriva Taylor Community Funeral Home, 64 Lakeshore Road West (one block east of Kerr 905-844-2600), Oakville from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. on Thursday. A Service of Remembrance will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, June 17, 2016 in the Kopriva Taylor Chapel. Thanks to all the emergency personnel who attended – they fought hard for him. In lieu of flowers, contributions to the Oakville Trafalgar Memorial Hospital would be appreciated.
