IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Stephen Robert
Couldridge
January 12, 2025
Stephen Robert Couldridge passed away peacefully on January 12, 2025 at Oakville Trafalgar Memorial Hospital. Husband of Linda J. Couldridge (nee Lightbourn), son of Frank Robert and Marguerite Carolyn Couldridge (nee Morris, predeceased) of Oakville. Much loved brother of Cara Lynn and Mary Jane (Jerry) Couldridge-van de Hoef. Fun uncle to Derek, Christine, Heather, Mattias, Rianna, Dayna and great uncle to nine.
Steve was a talented musician and shared his gifts through teaching, performing, arranging, composing, and examining for over 40 years. After earning his music and teaching degrees in Canada, he began teaching at the Government High School, New Providence, Bahamas. He then moved to Yamaha Canada Music to lead their programs where he nurtured budding musicians across Canada, trained teachers, adjudicated exams, and befriended many in the industry. His students were also very active in the annual Yamaha Junior Original Competition in Japan. Bahamas continued to hold a special place in his heart and he visited regularly. Steve loved going to lake cottages, fishing, sailing, boating, riding his Yamaha, and cooking up a mean BBQ. He was known for bringing musical instruments to family gatherings entertaining us with songs and his wonderful sense of humor. He developed friendships wherever he went and will be missed dearly.
A celebration of life will be held at a future date.
Donations in Steve's memory to MusiCounts charity are appreciated to continue his legacy of music education across Canada.
