IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Stanley Albert
Morris Glass
June 11, 1935 – May 4, 2019
Stanley Albert Morris Glass passed peacefully in his home this weekend, just shy of his eighty fourth birthday. He was predeceased by his wife of 26 years Carol Murphy-Glass. He is fondly remembered as a loving father to his children: Lynn Marie (Andrew), Stan Jr (Cindy), Marley, Kerrie (Allen), and Brent (Noelle). He was a doting grandfather to Nicholas, Declan, Kaitlin, Riley and Brenna. Survived by his sister Clare and nephews Robert and Bill (Sharon).
Stan spent his youth in beautiful Port Perry, Ontario on the shores of Lake Scugog. As Stan got older, he became an avid outdoorsman and always felt the call of the wild. He was drawn to the boreal forests of Northern Ontario which is where he eventually found his calling.
Stan settled down in Port Perry and was married and had two children, Lynn Marie and Stan Jr. He took great pains to ensure that his children had the best of everything and was a loving father. Stan also volunteered as an Auxiliary Police Officer at Durham Regional Police Service and was an active member of their tug of war team, anchoring the team to many championships in the police games. He was very proud to be a lifetime member of the Port Perry Masonic Lodge and the roles and responsibilities contained therein.
Stan worked for the Ministry of Transportation as a construction supervisor for highways and was involved in the construction of the Tran-Canada highway in the area of Blind River and Wawa. He rose to the highest levels of his chosen field and worked on projects all over the province and became a specialist in highway and bridge construction. After 35 years of service with the MTO, Stan retired at the peak of his game. Not one to rest on his laurels Stan immediately went into the private sector as a Contract Administrator and Consulting Engineer. In his retirement he also found the time to pursue a career in real estate but was quickly pulled back into construction. After almost 65 years in the industry Stan finally retired at the age of 81 and was widely regarded as one of the most knowledgeable and experienced consultants in the Province of Ontario.
In 1991 Stan re-married and his family grew to include three additional children; Marley, Kerrie and Brent. As all five of his children grew up and married, they provided him with a source of endless pride, his grandchildren; Nicholas (Stan Jr and Cindy), Declan (Marley), Kaitlin (Kerrie and Allen), Riley and Brenna (Brent and Noelle).
Later in life Stan reconnected with his Scottish heritage and was a proud member of the Stuart of Butte clan. He participated in many Highland Games, and clan gatherings both in Canada and Scotland and had the honor of being the Grand Marshal at one of the games. While at one of the clan gatherings in Scotland, Stan had the privilege of meeting His Royal Highness, Prince Charles, the Prince of Wales and discussing some of their shared ancestry.
