It is with great sadness that the family of Dr. Silva Hogg (Nee Kuhar) announces her passing on Monday, March 16 ^th , 2021 at the age of 88.

Silva was predeceased by her parents Dr. Aleksander Kuhar and Stanislava Kuhar of Ptuj, Slovenia and her long-term partner Victor Dereniuk of Oakville, Ontario.

She will be lovingly remembered by her family in Slovenia; her Brother Aleksander Kuhar, his wife Zinka Kuhar and their children, Aleksander Kuhar (nephew) and his wife Natasha Kuhar, their daughter Vita Kuhar, her niece Tjaša Kuhar and her daughters' Urša Trop and Živa Trop, as well as her daughter, Elisabeth Wallace and her husband, David Wallace of Kansas City, Missouri, her closest friends, Dr. Joyce Harris, and Dr. Shakira Havez.

Silva has many friends, too many to list individually that will miss and love her, we encourage you all to contribute pictures or stories about Silva, her family will treasure these memories and appreciate them all.

To encapsulate a life like my Mothers in a few short paragraphs is impossible.  Hers was a life lived in the constant and fearless pursuit of education and experience, from the moment she chose to follow in her father's wake and study medicine at the University of Ljublana in Slovenia, through her journey by ship across the Atlantic to Canada despite little proficiency with the English language.  My Mother was always in pursuit of knowledge, whether it be the six languages she spoke proficiently, or learning to cook amazing dishes, host elegant dinner parties, create fantastic dresses, or adapt to new cultures, her thirst for the experience of life knew no bound.

Any traveler needs a magnetic north, and my Mothers was Ptuj, Slovenia, her birthplace and family home.  There she has always been happiest, surrounded by family and home.

Hers was a life well lived, and for the rest of us, the echo of memories resounds within our hearts.  We will always cherish the wisdom, cheer, courage, and generosity she imparted to us all.
