Died suddenly in Oakville, Ontario at the age of 64. Shirley was a proud mother to Ryan and Meghan, a giving mother-in-law to Kelly and Dave, and an overjoyed grandmother to Miles. Born in Etobicoke, she leaves behind many who loved her -- her mother Elsie, her beloved sisters Wendy (Gord) and Judy (Larry), her little brother Scott (Jackie), her step-mother Bev, and all the loving members of her Brookdale family. She was a horror movie enthusiast, a dark joker, a rep baseball fan, an encouraging teacher, a giver of extravagant gifts and a lunch-bag note Shakespeare. Shirley loved sharing a smile, especially with the hundreds of students she taught over the course of her long and satisfying career. She was technically a senior citizen but much younger at heart, thanks to the sense of humour of her late husband Bryan. She joins him and their cherished dog Chloe, her brother Chris, and her dad William. Visitation will be held at the Kopriva Taylor Community Funeral Home, 64 Lakeshore Rd. W., Oakville (1 block east of Kerr St., 905-844-2600) on Monday, March 9, 2015 from 2-3pm with a celebration of Shirley's life at 3pm in the Kopriva Taylor Chapel. Reception to follow.
