Sheila June Alexander

August 29, 1934 – October 7, 2023

Sheila Alexander passed away peacefully on October 7, 2023, with her family lovingly by her side.

Born in Kingston, Jamaica, on August 29, 1934, to Lillian and Harold Vaz, she was predeceased by her brother, Douglas.  Sheila was the beloved wife of Joseph Gilbert "Gillie" Alexander until his passing on August 31, 1984.  She was the devoted mother to Deborah (Erickson) and the late Jillian (Brower) who passed on October 25, 2004.

Sheila will be dearly missed by Deborah, her adored grandchildren Nicole and Jordan Erickson, nephews Ricky (Kara), Daryl (Ann-Marie) and Wayne (Karen) Vaz, Trudy Vaz, grand nieces and nephews, as well as her extended family, friends and business colleagues.

As the matriarch of the Vaz family, her love and caring for family and friends was of utmost importance. Known for her unwavering faith, strength, dedication, incomparable work ethic and integrity, her legacy will continue to shine through the lives of those she touched.

A Service of Thanksgiving will be held on October 17th at 11am EST at St. Jude's Anglican Church in Oakville, Ontario, and live-streamed at:

In lieu of flowers, if desired, a donation may be made in her honour to the Heart and Stroke Foundation or the Canadian Cancer Society.
