IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Samuel
Mccomish
July 21, 1935 – July 10, 2024
It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Sam McComish on Wednesday July 10th, 2024, at the Oakville Trafalgar Memorial Hospital. Loving husband to Julie (predeceased May 26th, 2015), who was the "love of his life"
Loving father to his son Callum and his wife Trish, daughter Alison (predeceased December 20th, 2019), son Craig and his wife Wendy. Beloved Grandfather to Paul and Dryden and Great Grandfather to Keeley.
Sam came to Canada from Scotland in 1957 with his wife Julie; the two met while out dancing in 1951 and were married July 7th, 1956, after Sam had completed his 5th year apprenticeship with shipbuilder Alexander Steven & Son on the river Clyde. In Canada, Sam earned his Mechanical Engineering degree through hard work and determination. He studied at home and once a year went to UofT to write his exams (17 exams). Sam worked on some great construction projects, including Toronto's new City Hall and the Toronto Airport. He became so well known as an accomplished construction engineering manager, he was recruited by IBM's Real Estate division where he completed one of his proudest projects, IBM Canada's headquarter building.
One of Sam's passions was singing with his barbershop quartet. He was always known to be carrying a tune or humming a song. He loved to preform and enjoyed the friends he met along the way, he used to say that he had never met a barbershopper he didn't like.
He will be sadly missed by his family and friends.
In lieu of flowers, it would be greatly appreciated by the family to donate to " Harmonize for Speech "
