Ruth Catherine Simon (nee Gordon)

October 23rd, 1925 - February 17th, 2022

On Thursday February 17th, 2022, heaven gained another angel. Ruth Catherine Simon (nee Gordon), a longtime resident of Oakville, passed away peacefully at Billings Court Manor in Burlington at the age of 96. Her eight year battle with Lewy Body Dementia was fought with her usual dignity and grace.

She is survived by her loving daughter Janice Hanslo (Leon) and her two special granddaughters Christine and Jamie. She is predeceased by her husband of 20 years Heinz Simon, whom she shared a loving companionship with following the dear loss of her first husband of 36 years and high school sweetheart Jim Gordon. She is also predeceased by her brother Bruce Ahiers, sister Dorothy Crawley, parents Percy and Zilda Ahiers, and her beloved son-in-law Leon Hanslo who was taken from us too soon.

Ruth treasured her family and her friendships dearly, and was a devoted member of her church. Her faith was her foundation and gave her great strength and joy throughout her life.

We would like to express our sincere gratitude and deepest appreciation to everyone at Billings Court Manor who took such wonderful care of both Ruth and her family.

A private funeral service will be held for family and friends.
