Peacefully passed away in her Burlington home at the age of 73, after a long struggle with cancer on Wednesday, September 24, 2008. Loving mother of Elfie (Tom), Carl (Cathy) and Myron (Vicki), she was a special Omi to Raymond (Kathy), Karl, Thomas and Sophie, as well as being cherished by her great-granddaughters Diana, Sarah and Julia. Predeceased by her husband Karl and two sons, Harry and Ralph. Survived by her sisters Rosie, Ulla and Jutta. Ruth will be sadly missed by her many friends in Oakville where she lived for over forty years on Scarsdale Crescent and by Elfie Chase, who gave her invaluable support and friendship during her illness. Heartfelt thanks go to the many who provided support to the family; especially to Melissa at the Mississauga Halton Community Care Access Centre, Colleen and her staff at Mount Royal Pharmacy and to the very caring nursing staff of Acclaim Health. Ruth's feisty character and unique sense of humour defined her approach to life. She will be remembered for her love of Scottish and West Highland Terriers, several of which she rescued and nursed back to health while providing a safe and loving home. Visitation will be held at the Kopriva Taylor Community Funeral Home, 64 Lakeshore Rd. West, Oakville, (one block east of Kerr, 905-844-2600) 2-4 & 7-9 p.m. Friday.
