Ruth Cecilia Gruner (Nee Kirk) 1933-2023

It is with profound sorrow that we announce the sudden passing of our beautiful Mom, on Tuesday October 10th, 2023. She died at home, at the age of 90. Daughter of Edward and Mary Theresa Kirk (nee McGee), Ruth was born in Montreal Quebec, theyoungest of 7 siblings (John, Paul, Robert, Audrey, Bernice and her twin, Edward). In Montreal, she met the love of her life, Christopher Gruner (1935-2010). They married in 1963 and moved to Oakville, Ontario in 1971, with their three dear children, Doug (Holly), Tim and Sheila and she was later blessed to be Grandmother to her beautiful Quinn, Skyler and Nicolas. She was a devoted mother, wife, auntie, grandmother and friend, with unwavering commitment, even and especially in the fallout of a terrible accident that left her beloved Chris permanently brain injured in 1987. Ruth spent most of her professional life within the field of education, as a principal, high school teacher, French teacher and supply teacher. She was a longstanding member of St. Dominic's Catholic Church, the Catholic Women's League and the Ontario Teachers Association.We wish to extend our warmest thanks and appreciation to Dr Amolins, her family doctor who took good care of her for well over 20 years; to her special PSWs Sandip, Salome, and Pam who showed so much compassion and shared much laughter with our dear mom. We also want to thank Ruth's dear friends and extended family who kept our mom smiling, in their thoughts, prayers and chatting on the phone. A visitation will be held at Kopriva Taylor Funeral Home (https://www.koprivataylor.com) on Sunday October 15 from 3-6 pm. A Catholic mass will be held on Monday October16 at St James Catholic Church (231 Morden Rd) at 10 am. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Canada Food for Children or an agency supportive of seniors.
