Obituary

After a stubborn and determined battle with cancer, Ron passed away peacefully in the presence of his loving family. Ron was predeceased by his wife Josephine and his parents, Ronald and Joyce. Growing up, Ron loved Boy Scouts, becoming the youngest person to attain the Queen Scout at the age of 13, and attending the World Scout Jamboree. As a young man, Ron joined a fraternity at UBC, where he earned a BSc in chemistry. As a DKE, Ron made many strong friendships, which he maintained across Canada for the rest of his life. Ron took on the raising of his two boys after the untimely passing of his adored Josie. He was a wonderful father and guide as he devoted his life to them. Ron worked in the pharmaceutical industry in sales and management, beginning with Searle and retiring with Merisant. In retirement, Ron found even more social and volunteer outlets, playing golf, trips to Florida with the boys, weight training, yoga, coffee clubs, and gardening. He was a tireless volunteer for the Canadian Cancer Society, winning a provincial award for leadership. He also became a world traveler, which he thoroughly enjoyed, exploring much of Europe. Visitation will be held at the Kopriva Taylor Funeral Home on Friday 7 July at 3-5:00 and 7-9:00 PM. A celebration of life will be held at Le Dome on Saturday 8 July at 2:00 PM. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Ian Anderson House (where Ron received exemplary care) or to the Canadian Cancer Society. Ron is survived by his sons Stephen and Michael and his sister Judith, as well as many in laws, cousins, nieces and nephews.
