Obituary

It is with deep sadness that we announce the passing of Ronald John Gemin, who passed away on the evening of September 30, 2026, at the age of 90.

Ron was a man who taught those around him how to carry themselves with kindness and integrity, shared his wisdom, and, most importantly, showed us how to love and take care of family and friends. He showed us every day that love is expressed not only through words, but through actions, deeds, and the countless little things we do for the people we love.

Ron fought bravely, determined to make it to his 90th birthday. He was proud to reach that milestone and loved celebrating with those who were able to make it.

He leaves behind his loving wife of 59 wonderful years, Carolyn Gemin, whom he lovingly called “the best blind date ever.” Together, they built a life and a family filled with love, laughter, and memories that will be cherished forever.

Ron will be deeply missed by his four children: Michelle Bommarito (Michael), David Gemin, Rob Gemin, and Brian Gemin (Laura); and his four beloved grandchildren, whom he loved dearly: Matthew Bommarito, Catherine Gemin (and her mother, Melanie), Brayden Gemin, and Brielle Gemin.

Ron enjoyed moving and shaking on the dance floor, knocking down pins at the bowling alley, following sports on his TV, and coaching his children’s many sports as they grew up. He spent thousands of hours at the pitch or rink watching his children and grandchildren play, always cheering them on. He was a devoted Bruins fan, dedicated 35 years to the CRA, and found many ways throughout his life to support and help others.

Ron was a shining light in the lives of those around him. He was someone we could look to for guidance when we felt lost, our rock when we needed him, and the person we could turn to for advice on how to find our way. His wisdom, strength, humour, and unwavering devotion to his family will remain with us always.

His greatest legacy is the family he loved so fiercely and the lessons he passed on through the way he lived his life. His love will continue through his children, grandchildren, and all those fortunate enough to have known him.

Thank you to the staff at OTMH for their exceptional care.

Visitation will be held on Monday October 5, 2026 at the Kopriva Taylor Community Funeral Home, 64 Lakeshore Road West, Oakville (one block East of Kerr Street) from 2-4 pm and 6-8 pm.  Funeral Mass will be held on Tuesday October 6, 2026 at Saint Dominic Parish, 2415 Rebecca Street, Oakville at 11 am.  Reception to follow in the Parish Hall.

Donations in honour of Ron can be made to the Heart and Stroke Foundation.

He will be loved, remembered, and missed every single day.

Love you always and forever, Dad, Grandpa, Papa, RJ.

Rest in Peace.
