IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Ronald Eugene
Carrigan
November 29, 1930 – November 17, 2023
At the age of 92, Ronald Eugene Carrigan, of Mississauga, Ontario passed away peacefully on Friday, November 17, 2023.
Born on November 29, 1930 in Sand Point, Nova Scotia, to parents, Lyle and Myrtle Carrigan, Ron moved to Ontario in his early twenties for employment. While working as a general labourer at CP Rail, his interest was piqued while watching the welders. As a result, he enrolled in welding school and after graduation; he honed his skills so much so that he became a master at his trade. His work took him to various locations including a one year stint in Nigeria, Africa.
Ronald religiously read the Toronto Star newspaper from front to back daily. He dabbled in little woodworking projects, enjoyed playing cards with relatives on Saturday nights and working on his "home away from home" (The Lodge) with his pre-deceased brother-in-law, Ronnie Behie. Dad's greatest love, without a doubt, was returning home multiple times a year, to Sand Point, Nova Scotia to visit his parents, siblings and their families. Everyone would gather at "The Lodge" for food, drinks and many laughs. Relaxing on the deck, looking out at the boats in the Canso Strait was also a favourite pastime. His quiet sense of humour will be truly missed.
He is survived by his wife, of 70 years, Elizabeth Mae (Betty); dedicated father to, Donna (Brent) Pope, Steven (Jane) Carrigan, Lisa (Bill) Milliken, and Jody (Dalton) Carrigan; proud grandfather to, Amber, Taylor, Jamie, Sandra, William, Andrew and Liam, and great-grandchild, Parker; lovingly remembered by his siblings; Ina (George) Stecca, Sharon Behie, Harold and many nieces and nephews. Loved and predeceased by his siblings Doris, Joyce, Frank, Earl and Mildred.
The family would like to extend a special thank you to the wonderful staff at Sunrise of Oakville who cared so much for Ronald during his time there.
He will be dearly missed by all of his family. We will continue to honour him in our lives. A service will be arranged and held next summer in Sand Point, Nova Scotia.
