Obituary

It is with deep sadness that we announce the passing of Ron Keating in his 77th year at his home surrounded by his family on September 9, 2007 after a long and challenging journey with cancer, one which he endured with great courage and bravery. He is the devoted husband of Mary, loving father to Colleen Palmer, Gail Graham and the late Richard Keating. Will be sadly missed by son-in-laws Richard and Steve. Cherished grandfather of Steven and Heather, beloved brother to Irene Anderson. Ron Keating was born and raised in South Africa where he obtained his accreditation as a chartered accountant and went on to become Secretary-Treasurer of Consolidated Western Wines Ltd. in South Africa. Ron immigrated to Canada in l960 where his ambition and determination led him to become President of Litton Systems Canada Ltd. from l971 to l986. Ron achieved great success in this role leading the company to historic growth and sales during his tenure. Complementing his professional designation, Ron was director of the Aerospace Industry Association of Canada and also served as chairman from 1980-81. He also enjoyed playing squash in his spare time and was a top ranked player at the Skyline Squash Club. In his later years he loved to travel and spend time in his favorite place, Hawaii. Ronald was a generous and loving man and will be deeply missed by all who knew him. A service will be held at the Kopriva Taylor Community Funeral Home, 64 Lakeshore Road W. (one block east of Kerr) Oakville on Thursday, September 13, 2007 at 1 p.m. with visitation 1 hour before the service. Cremation to follow. The family offers a special thanks to Dr. Pyle and nurses Liliya and Sharliee for their support and care given to the family. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions to the Ronald McDonald House, 4th Floor, 1 McDonald's Place, Toronto, ON M3C 3L4 or the charity of your choice would be appreciated by the family.
