IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Robert Francis
Voll
May 18, 1956 – October 8, 2024
Our Robbie succumbed peacefully to cancer at Oakville Trafalgar Hospital surrounded by his loving and large family.
Born in Hamilton and raised in Kitchener, Ontario Robbie was predeceased by parents Wilbert and Maria (Brett) Voll, his baby sister Rosemary (Richard Cybulski) and his beloved uncle and aunt Francis and Kathleen (Brett) Pendergast. He is survived by his children Cassandra and Adam, his sisters Margaret (Colin Westman), Cecile (Jeffrey Davis), Karen Voll-Ingram, and Kathleen (Sean Kennedy). The love was shared by nephews and nieces Ryan and Sara Margaret Westman, Matthew and Andrew Ingram, Tara and Sina Kennedy, as well as his dear Pendergast cousins Patrick, Leeanna, John, and Sara, and his devoted and long-time friend Laura Waters.
As the only boy in a family with 5 sisters he was pampered and spoiled, and felt free to explore the wilder side of Kitchener with zest and elan on motorcycles and in fast cars, hungover at Smitty's Pancake House before morning classes, just being out there. But he never lost his foundation, and graduated from the University of Waterloo with a B. Math. His parents and aunt had a string of hair salons in the region, so he turned his talents to sales in the hair products industry, and then parlayed them into real estate in the Woodbridge area. Sometimes thought the "bad boy" of the clan, Robbie became a good and steadfast father, brother, cousin, uncle and friend. We are all bereft at his passing.
Robbie's fondest memories were always his children, and the family parties around the pool at Lakeside in Kitchener in earlier years. Always looking for adventure, however, he bought a boat, sailing out of Beacon Bay Marina in Penetang and spending weekends cruising Georgian Bay with his fellow captains. This was especially meaningful for him in his last months at Amica Bronte Harbour from where he would venture down to the marina to view the boats and enjoy the peace of the water. He also deeply cherished the friendships he made from his home in Woodbridge with a large group of volleyball and cycling enthusiasts.
The family offers its deepest gratitude to the wonderful staff support who lovingly cared for Robbie throughout his stay at Amica, and the care he received in the palliative care wing of Oakville Trafalgar Hospital at the end of his too short life. In addition, the family thanks the respectful arrangements from Kopriva Taylor Funeral Home in Oakville.
Mass will be held at St Matthew Roman Catholic Church, 1150 Monks Passage in Oakville on Wednesday at 11 am 16 October 2024, and immediately afterward all are invited to the wake celebrating Robbie's vital life at St Volodymyr Cultural Centre, 1280 Dundas Street West in Oakville. Interment will be in Woodland Cemetery in Kitchener, with his parents and sister Rosemary, at a later date. Mors immatura.
