Robert Gordon Stanley September 10, 1955 – May 18, 2026
It is with deep sorrow that we announce the passing of Robert Gordon Stanley. After a long and courageous battle with a serious illness, Rob passed away peacefully on May 18, 2026, at Georgetown Hospital, surrounded by his family. Despite many health complications and treatments, Rob never lost his positivity, kind spirit, or sense of humour.
Born in Windsor, Ontario, on September 10, 1955, Rob was the second son of the late Rose and Gordon Stanley, and younger brother to Bill. He later moved to the Greater Toronto Area, where he completed his CPA, CMA designation. Throughout his accomplished professional career, Rob served as Chairman on numerous Treasury Associations. In 1985, he began a successful career with Samuel, Son & Co., where he worked as Treasurer for 18 years before retiring in the spring of 2021.
Retirement allowed Rob to devote more time to his family, friends, travel, charitable work, and his beloved motorcycle. He combined his passion for long motorcycle rides with his generous spirit by participating in, organizing, and fundraising for events such as Ride for Dad and Ride for Dog Guides for many years. When he was not exploring the back roads of Canada on his motorcycle, Rob was travelling the world with his wife of 25 years, Judy Stanley. Together, they built a beautiful life centered on love, joy, and adventure.
Rob will be remembered for his compassion, generosity, enthusiasm, and unforgettable laugh. He will forever remain in the hearts of his devoted wife, Judy, and his beloved children: Danielle (Jess), Laura (Mike), and Eric (Gena). Rob was overjoyed to welcome his granddaughter, Audrey, in 2025, and was eagerly anticipating the arrival of his second granddaughter this summer.
The family would like to express their heartfelt gratitude to the teams at Princess Margaret Cancer Centre, Sunnybrook Health Sciences Centre, and Juravinski Hospital for their compassionate care and support.
A funeral service will take place on June 22, 2026, at 12:00 p.m., at Kopriva Taylor Community Funeral Home. Visitation will begin at 10:00 a.m. and a reception will follow the service.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Lions Foundation of Canada Dog Guides or Ride for Dad.
