IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Robert Travers
Saulez
July 30, 1939 – October 1, 2022
Robert Travers Saulez passed away on October 1, 2022 surrounded by people who loved him. Born in England on July 30, 1939, Rob set sail on the Empress of Canada in 1963 and although his love for Britain never diminished, he embraced Canada, became a citizen and always called himself a proud Canadian. He built a life filled with adoring family and friends, multiple careers, stunning gardens and a warm home that was always open and welcoming to all and filled with the smells of his amazing cooking. His UK family and friends knew him as Bob and they were always in his thoughts and words and shared in the joys of being hosted travellers at Chez Rob's.
Rob was a completely devoted and proud father who never missed a soccer game or theatre production and he is missed deeply by his loving children Andrew and Caroline, his son-in-law Ali, his sister Bridget, his dear family and friends in the UK, his beloved neighbours and friends at home and his faithful dog. His children learned from him how to enjoy the little things in life, set a budget, follow through on commitments and be true to one's word. He was always there with an open mind, a word of advice and a loving heart whenever they needed him.
Rob was known for his quick wit, his sense of humour and for always speaking his mind. He made friends wherever he went and was never in too much of a hurry to miss the chance for a chat. He was an avid reader who loved a good mystery thriller and read the newspaper cover to cover daily. Time in Rob's kitchen would disappear as conversation would meander seamlessly from world politics and current affairs to recipes and baking tips to who should win America's Got Talent, all while enjoying a delicious meal and glass of wine. He loved to dance and was never seen sitting for long at a banquet or party if there was a dance floor. His beautiful ballroom dancing was appreciated by all at formal parties and weddings and he was much missed by his square dancing class when breathing difficulties began to take the spring out of his step and he had to bow out.
There are no words to describe how much he is missed. We raise a glass to you dear Rob. You have rested long enough so may you soar in peace.
In lieu of flowers, the family would be grateful for donations to be made to Wellspring , a charity that meant a lot to Rob.
