Robert Joseph Martel

Robert Joseph Martel passed away peacefully at the age of 91 on March 7, 2026, in Burlington, Ontario.

Born in Quebec City, Quebec, on December 30, 1934, Robert was the son of the late Ludger Martel and Mary Martel (née Mullally). He was predeceased by his beloved wives, Lilian Martel (Tobin) and Sally Bleecker.

Robert is lovingly remembered by his children, Robin Martel (Chris Reynolds) and Brent Martel (Karyne Deschamps), and by his cherished grandchildren, Jacqueline Reynolds, Justin Reynolds, and Gregory Martel. He is also survived by his sister, Denyse McComb (Martel), and was predeceased by his brothers Charles Martel and Gilbert Martel, and his sister Jean Martel. He will also be fondly remembered by Andrew Bleecker and Carl Bleecker, as well as their spouses, children and grandchildren.

Robert attended Saint Patrick’s High School in Quebec City before beginning a successful career in sales. Over the years he worked with Drummond McCall and Dominion Bridge in Montreal, and later served as Regional Manager for Samuel Strapping Systems in Laval, Quebec.

He had a lifelong love of travel and greatly enjoyed spending time with family and friends. Above all, Robert will be remembered as an extremely devoted and caring husband, whose loyalty and kindness defined his life.

As per his wishes, there will be no funeral ceremony.

In lieu of flowers, donations in Robert’s memory may be made to Oakville Trafalgar Memorial Hospital Foundation in Oakville, Ontario.
