Obituary

It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of  Stephen on May 7 th , 2021.  Loving husband of 45 years to Diane, and adored father to Christine (Trent Praski) and Mary. He was also a proud grandfather to Aiden (Praski).  He was a much loved brother to Angela O'Coin (Bernie) and their children known as "the kids" Jason (Livia) Stephanie, Chris (Jaime), Laura O'Coin . Older and loving brother to Dr. Tim Frewen (Valerie) and loved uncle to Paul (Kim), Patricia (Andrew), Steven & Matthew.

Born in England in 1944 to parents Anthony Frewen and Anne (Owens) and immigrated to Canada in 1952.

After completing business degrees; and teaching the Dale Carnegie course; Steve started working with Eaton's, and opened stores across Canada. He had a natural entrepreneurial spirit; which led him to start his own menswear business downtown Oakville.  He was a man of many interests and pursued other business ventures over the years including working for Pepsi Worldtrade, and Wigglesworth & Company.

More importantly; Steve would say that his main focus in his life was his family.  He was such a wonderful presence in our lives that his passing is devasting to us.  He loved us so much; and to be loved by Steve, was to be cherished.  As a husband, I was blessed to have almost 46 years with his love. Our girls have had the best father and mentor they could possibly ever know.  He loved his girls unconditionally and they knew they could come to him with any problem or worry and be accepted without judgement.  Do you know what that means to a child to know that they are loved unconditionally, and the freedom that gives them to be themselves? As his wife and the mother of his children, I cannot imagine the road ahead without his wonderful guidance.  He was a man without an ego, he never lost his focus in life, he talked to everyone, and was always interested in what someone had to say.  He was someone who actually listened to people; he never met a stranger.  We have many wonderful memories and friendships (Ellen & Pete). Our house and family parties were never without a good tune, a dance (Rolling Stones & The Eagles) and a welcoming invitation for all.  His advice is in my heart, and he always said "let life come to you" and "all will be well." He loved his life with us, which he told me so many times. He loved his sister and his brother and their families.  He tried so hard to stay with us; but love never dies. Our love for Stephen is never-ending.  His faith in God was absolute, and he knew God's presence.  He never had a day without prayer.  He was a gentle, loving, caring man, and we were so blessed to have him.  Peace my darling.

Due to the Covid restrictions, a small family funeral will be held at St. Andrew's Parish.
