It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Robert ("Bob") John Day on Wednesday, April 15, 2009, at the age of 85. He is survived by his beloved wife Florence Helena Day (Crowley), his 4 children and spouses: Wayne (Lynn), Noreen (Ken), Donna (Mike) and Gary; grandchildren: Kimberley and Jennifer; Ryan, Nicole and Spencer; Stephanie and Justin; great-grandchildren: Rhys and Tela; Samuel and Sadie. Bob joined the Canadian Army in 1940 with the 17th Duke of York Royal Canadian Hussars; later joined the Royal Canadian Corps of Signals Army Physical Training Corps, as a sergeant, in Aldershot England. He proudly served in Normandy, and returned safely in 1945. He was a long term active member of The Fitness Institute in Mississauga, and an avid supporter of the Toronto Maple Leafs, Raptors and Blue Jays. Visitation will be held at the Kopriva Taylor Community Funeral Home, 64 Lakeshore Road West, Oakville (one block east of Kerr, 905-844-2600) on Saturday from 2-4 & 7-9 p.m. A Funeral Service will be held 11:00 a.m. on Monday, April 20, 2009 at St. Jude's Anglican Church, 160 William Street, Oakville, after which there will be a reception in the church hall. Cremation will be later. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Heart & Stroke Foundation or to the charity of your choice.
