It is not about the profound sadness we feel when we announce the passing of our dad Robert Shepherd Clydesdale on November 10, 2021 at 93 years, but instead a blissful feeling of peace and wonder born in elysian fields where a life lived to its fullest, like a shooting star shines brightly, briefly and then disappears into eternity forever, remembered by those lucky enough to witness it's infinite truth and beauty. Robert or "Bob" as he was known to all passed away peacefully at the Oakville Trafalgar Memorial Hospital. He was born on September 5, 1928, in Toronto, to Hugh and Margaret of Glasgow, Scotland. He spent his youth helping his family run their grocery store and spending time with his cherished grandmother, Catherine. He worked for Texaco all his adult life, until his early retirement. Bob was a true gentleman, kind and gentle who loved his family very much. He was an avid gardener, and a consummate host, which many experienced attending annual Canada Day picnics and New Year's parties. Bob was both creative and intelligent and had a passion for lifelong learning. Living in both Edmonton and Toronto, he became an expert traveller and many of his happiest moments were on trips with family and friends. He lived his life to the fullest right to the end. Bob devoted his life to his beloved wife Verna (predeceased) and he will be sadly missed by his sons David, Craig (Sandra), and Andrew (Janet). He was a proud and loving grandfather to his granddaughters, Amanda, Bonnie, Carly and Nicole. He was predeceased by his brothers Hugh (Audrey) and Andrew (Lois). Bob is survived by his brother Fergus (Lynn). He is predeceased by his sister and brother in law Ruth and Jim. In his lifetime, he was a loyal and dedicated friend and uncle to many who will miss him greatly. As per his wishes, there will be no service but an online memorial page is available at Kopriva Taylor Community Funeral Home. The family would like to extend a thank you to the staff at DelManor and the doctors and nurses at the hospital for their compassion and care.
