Obituary

It is with great sadness that the family announces the peaceful death of "Bill" at the age of 84, on Wednesday, June 8, 2011 at 5:45 a.m. at The Stabler Centre, Hospice Niagara in St. Catharines, Ontario, Canada. He is the adoring "best" husband and true friend of Rose-Marie. Former husband of the late Sheila Penman. Father of Robert (Nancy), Brian (Donna), Kevin (Ania) and predeceased by his cherished daughter Karen Meyer (Gary). Step-father of Peter (Petrus), Fred (Fran) and Herman. Grandfather of Rob (Catharine), Bryan (Charlene), Amber, Kevin, Shavonne, Adam, Joshua and Cameron. He is also survived by his great-grandchildren Nicholas, Natalie, Ethan, Emma, Robbie & Madison. Brother of Carol (Tom), Jim, Ken, Pat, Dorothy and the late Shirley. Bill is the loving brother-in-law of Johanna and her late husband Alwyn J. "Billy" Blanchette, Jr. (February 6, 2011) and uncle of Brigitte, Norman and Christina all of Texas. Bill enjoyed his regular travels, tenting and camping but most especially both long and short trips with his beloved Rose. Bill's wish was for a private cremation with the scattering of his cremated remains at Ovens Natural Park, Nova Scotia. The family is grateful and wishes to thank all those with St. Elizabeth Nursing, CCAC, Canadian Red Cross, Hospice Niagara, Dr. Hughes and Dr. Taylor for helping to make Bill's last months, weeks, days and hours so very comfortable for him and his family. It is most appreciated. Special thanks to Ilona Kopriva, Terry Cooke, Alexandra Mudry, Terry Campbell and Gordon Hunter at Kopriva Taylor Community Funeral Home, and Wayne Holtzhauer, Richard Evans and Gayle Rutledge for the compassionate care with arranging and attendance at St. John's Dixie Crematorium, Mississauga, Ontario, Canada. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions to The Stabler Centre, Hospice Niagara, 403 Ontario Street, Unit 2, St. Catharines, Ontario, Canada L2N 1L5 (www.hospiceniagara.ca) would be most appreciated by the family.

Bill's life was blessedly full, he enjoyed those around him.
He would be pleased how he used his 'dash'.

We will miss you Bill.
