Passed away peacefully, after a short battle with cancer on December 4, 2009, at the age of 74. Loving husband of Janet for 50 years; father of Bryan (Peggy), Scott (Catherine) and Christopher (Kate); son of Jessie (Beattie) Webber and the late David Webber; Devoted and proud "Poppa" to Annie, Claire, Madeline, Alexa, Kyle, and Mallory; brother of Bill (Dee), and entertaining "Uncle Ric" to twenty-five nieces and nephews and their families. Ric graduated from the University of Toronto in 1958 with a Bachelor of Science degree in Mining Engineering, and was a member of the Professional Engineers of Ontario. After a short stint in the petroleum industry, he joined the Canadian Gypsum Company, and retired in 2000 as a senior executive in the company after 35 years of service. Like his father, Ric was an avid hunter and outdoorsman. He had a passion for history and politics, live theatre, the movies, horse racing and professional sports. In his retirement, he became an excellent winemaker and gourmet chef, hosting many delicious Sunday family dinners, carefully served after the game had ended. Private family interment. On Tuesday, December 8th, 2009, there will be a visitation at 11:00am at St. John's United Church, 262 Randall St., Oakville, followed by a Service of Remembrance and reception at the church at 12:00pm.
